Trophy Axis Deer Hunts in Florida I did not know what to expect on my first visit to Florida hunting Axis Deer. I flew into Tampa and it was a short drive to the Ranch. When I got there they treated me extremely well and made me feel at home. They feed me a very good hot meal before bed and instructed about the hunt I wanted to do the next day. I couldn’t be more pleased with the hunting arrangements, Larry, the staff and the overall quality of the facility. Early in the morning they took to me to the TazMahal stand and implemented my desire to take a Trophy Axis deer from the large herd on the ranch. I patiently waited for the trophy axis buck of my choice. At that time we did not see any sign of an axis deer. However I did spot a very, very large boar hog about a hundred and fifty yards out approaching the stand and asked if I could harvest it along with my axis deer. Without hesitation my outfitter said ya sure, but we will probably have to wait a bit before the axis deer come around. With that being said I waited for the right moment when the giant hog cleared the brush so I could get a clear shot at it. Just as I was about to pull the trigger my guide tapped me lightly on the shoulder and pointed to my left. Oh my gosh! There it was! It was a very healthy axis buck. I waited till it got in range. It seemed like forever. That lone axis buck was playing hard to get. As soon as it came into view it disappeared. I was instructed to wait it out. It seemed like forever but it reappeared on the edge of the wood line. I waited for the honey shot. Boom. The buck ran for a few yards and fell. I could not believe my eyes when we got to this magnificent creature. Finally I had my trophy axis buck on a hunt in Florida. Sure glad I didn’t take the shot at the boar. I highly recommend hunting axis deer in Florida at Razor Ranch. I will be back.
