On a typical hunt we would see several hogs of just about every size imaginable ranging from piglets that were still in their cute stage of life to boars weighing upwards of 300-pounds and sporting 4-inch or longer tusks. A hog of this size has long outgrown the cuteness and at this point is a little more intimidating. We did not go home empty handed. We filled our cooler with a couple meat hogs and my wife had it overflowing with a monster 300-pounder with 5- inch tusks that will be proudly displayed in our home. She can’t wait to get it back so she can show it off to her friends and remind me that she killed the bigger hog. Hunters have the options to hunt out of stands, spot and stalk or even using dogs to bay the hogs for some up close and personal action with a sharp edge. This definitely would take some nerves of steel to pull off. Rifles, shotguns, pistols, bows and crossbows are all welcome. Wild hog meat is just as good as any pork you would purchase in the supermarket. If you happen to kill a big old boar, don’t fret. Take the meat to a processor and have it made into pork burgers and brats. You will never know the difference and a big old boar will provide for a lot of cookouts.
