Florida Hog Hunting in the Stand We were sitting in a very nice big wood stand with a feeder in front of us and another on our left. The hogs took about two hours before they started moving, because the Florida Hunting weather was to warm. But move they did. We were lined up for a shot on a 140 pound sow but the big hog was moving back and forth, back and forth. She kept moving and would not stand still. I was thinking the corn on the ground was going to be gone and she would leave with her chops that I wanted for the freezer. Then she stopped and faced me. Well I said to myself it’s a head shot or nothing, so I squeezed one off and hit the hog in the nose. The shot was a little low. Hogs in Florida are like tanks on four legs. The hog ran around like crazy and then bolted behind the feeder. We waited about fifteen minutes and then off tracking. Holly crap not one drop of blood. We spread out looking for about two hours and never finding anything to go on. We called it a lost hog. Remember when hunting hogs in Florida use a big gun on these meat tanks.
